The shop (an opera in 2 bits)

about

The first, if not the only, opera I've ever written. It's not a long one, but it packs an emotional wallop. Inspired by that one that starts with a guy measuring a room, this opera is about a trip to the shop. Gut-wrenching in it's honesty, gut-churning in it's stupidity, it was voted "World's stupidest opera" in the year of its release. Enjoy.

lyrics

Why don't you paint the roof?
I don't have any paint.
Maybe you should buy some?
I'll go out to the shop.
And get me some milk.
I'll be on my way then.
Would you like some flour?

Blues-opera interlude

Hello shop, I'd like some paint, and some milk and flour.
How's the wife? The weather's nice for this time of May.
Your son is looking fit and well. I must be on my way.
Hello wife, here's the milk
Thanks, just put it there

From Turakina, via Castle Xanthros, all the way to sunny Palmy, the Bing Turkby Ensemble brings you a theatrical rock show ... more like no other. Guitar, bass, drums, sax, trombone, accordion, cardboard swords, UFOs and wigs are all involved at various points. Starting in 1996 as one man, a wig and a tape deck, the band now features this cast of miscreants: Bing Turkby, Slapskins McBOOOm, and MacDeth. less
